RBR (Crops) Ltd: Your Seed Potato Specialist

Established in 1965, RBR (Crops) Ltd was founded by Wal Richmond, Mike Brighton, and Eve Reeve. Drawing from their expertise as potato merchants in Lincolnshire, the trio set a solid foundation for our operations.

In 1967, we moved to our base at Carlton Farm in North Walsham, Norfolk. What was once a simple fruit farm with wooden sheds is now a 12-acre facility with refrigerated and ambient storage, grading, transportation facilities, and modern offices. Alongside, we have 200ha of arable land dedicated to potato cultivation.

Over the years, we've built strong partnerships with leading UK supermarket chains and growers nationwide. Central to our operations is the Brighton family. Mike Brighton, one of our founders, serves as chairman, and his sons, Mark and Stuart, act as company directors.

We specialise in a range of potato varieties:

  • Maris Piper: A staple in the UK, making up 20% of all potato production.
  • Desiree: A traditional red-skinned variety ideal for both packing and processing.
  • Estima: Popular for pre-packing, its uses range from boiling to baking.
  • Eos: Noteworthy for requiring 20% less Nitrogen fertiliser, it's also drought-resistant.
  • Maritiema: Resistant to certain nematodes, it's versatile for both packing and processing.

Additionally, our lineup includes King Edward, great for roasting; Marabel, perfect for boiling and mashing; Vivaldi, a multi-purpose variety; Rooster, a red-skinned type suitable for various uses, and the early-season Maris Peer.
